Mr. Wadee Al Handal, Chairman of Al Handal International Group and President of the Iraqi Private Banks League, attended a meeting chaired by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on 30 November for the launch of the “Pulse of Mosul” project.
The project aims to rehabilitate the historic neighborhoods and alleyways of Mosul’s Old City, drawing inspiration from the “Pulse of Baghdad” initiative. The meeting was also attended by the Governor of Nineveh, representatives of the Association of Iraqi Private Banks, advisors to the Prime Minister, and senior officials from relevant departments.
During the meeting, Prime Minister al-Sudani highlighted the importance of the project in reviving Mosul’s heritage and reinforcing its cultural and historical value. A committee, chaired by the Governor of Nineveh, will oversee its implementation through specialized companies that will follow modern standards while preserving the character of the Old City.
The first phase of the project will include the rehabilitation of Al-Farouq Street, a 2-kilometer stretch connecting the riverfront to key landmarks such as Al-Nouri Mosque and the Clock Church.
