From Partnership to Reality, Al Handal Group Celebrates % Arabica’s First Branch in Iraq
Al Handal International Group celebrated the opening of the first % Arabica branch in Iraq at Iraq Mall, Baghdad, welcoming a large number of visitors and coffee enthusiasts who gathered to experience the renowned Japanese specialty coffee brand.
The event marked an important milestone following the master franchise agreement between Al Handal International Group and % Arabica, bringing the brand’s signature coffee experience to the Iraqi market.
A highlight of the branch is its distinctive interior design, created by Paris-based architecture studio ARCHIEE. Inspired by the ancient Ziggurat of Ur, the space blends traditional Mesopotamian brickwork and layered architectural forms with the simplicity and attention to detail of Japanese design, creating a modern setting that reflects Iraq’s cultural heritage.
The occasion also highlighted the Group’s investment in local talent. Following months of training with international experts, young Iraqi professionals are now leading % Arabica’s operations in Iraq, gaining valuable experience while contributing to the development of the country’s hospitality sector.
With additional branches planned across Iraq, each featuring its own architectural identity, Al Handal International Group looks forward to expanding the % Arabica experience to more communities.
