On March 19, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, the Baghdad Pulse Initiative honored the Diwani Order 23338 Committee for its dedicated efforts in rehabilitating Baghdad’s Old City. The recognition highlights the successful completion of restoration projects on Mutanabbi and Saray Streets and the ongoing preparations for the third phase of Rashid Street.
The Diwani Order 23338 Committee, consisting of representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Advisory Board, the Baghdad Municipality, the Ministry of Culture, and other key government institutions, has played a crucial role in preserving the city's cultural and historical identity.
During the event, Baghdad Mayor Ammar Musa commended the collective efforts behind these projects, emphasizing their significance in restoring the historical fabric of the capital. Advisor to the Prime Minister, Arif al-Saadi, reaffirmed the government’s support for initiatives that safeguard Baghdad’s architectural and cultural heritage.
Representing the private sector, Mr. Wadee Al-Handal, Chairman of Al Handal International Group (HIG) and President of the Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL), stressed that the initiative is not just about urban renewal but also about enhancing investment opportunities and creating new job prospects. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Central Bank of Iraq, government and private banks, and the Tamkeen Fund, emphasizing the importance of public-private collaboration in driving sustainable development.
This initiative marks another step in Baghdad’s transformation, where history and progress go hand in hand, ensuring a vibrant future for the city and its people.
