Al Handal International Group (HIG) had the honor of hosting Mr. Kenneth Shoji, Founder of %Arabica, at the Modon Real Estate Development Sales Center in Baghdad. His visit, alongside HIG leadership—including Vice Chairman Mr. Hardan Noori Al Handal and Deputy CEO Mr. Noor Noori Al Handal—underscores the increasing global interest in Iraq’s real estate and retail sectors.
During his visit to Modon Real Estate, Mr. Shoji explored the various real estate development projects led by Modon and gained insights into HIG’s strategic vision for shaping the real estate market in Baghdad.
In January 2025, HIG signed a Master Franchise Agreement with %Arabica to bring the globally renowned Japanese coffee brand to Iraq. The first %Arabica store in Iraq is set to open in Baghdad, with plans for nationwide expansion. Among these, the flagship %Arabica store will be located in the Lavida Project, a new development in the heart of Baghdad inspired by contemporary architecture and developed by Modon. The Lavida Project will feature a specialty coffee roastery, further elevating %Arabica’s presence in Iraq and reinforcing Baghdad’s growing status as a destination for high-end global brands.
Mr. Shoji’s visit highlights HIG’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, introducing world-class brands to Iraq, and driving investment in the country’s evolving real estate landscape.
