Wadee Al Handal, Chairman of Al Handal International Group (HIG) and the Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL), had the honor of welcoming Dr. Mohamed Al Hassan, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, alongside Mr. Ali Al-Alaq, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), and other distinguished officials to the Green House Project on January 31st.
This innovative, youth-led initiative, affiliated by the Iraqi Private Banks League in partnership with the Central Bank of Iraq and funded by the Tamkeen Fund for Community Initiatives, plays a crucial role in combating desertification, promoting afforestation, and fostering sustainable organic farming.
During the visit, Mr. Wadee Al Handal reaffirmed the private banks' commitment to environmental sustainability, highlighting the project’s goal to plant hundreds of thousands of trees across Iraq. As climate challenges intensify, collaborative efforts like the Green House Project are essential for creating a greener and more sustainable future for our country.
We are grateful for the invaluable support for this initiative and remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing environmental sustainability in Iraq.
