Mr. Wadee Al Handal, Chairman of Al Handal International Group (HIG) and President of the Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL), welcomed H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Al-Hassan, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), during his visit to the IPBL headquarters in Baghdad on 29 January 2025.

The meeting focused on fostering bilateral relations and strengthening partnerships with the United Nations Mission in Iraq. Mr. Wadee Al Handal emphasized the importance of collaboration with international organizations to create investment opportunities that drive financial stability and sustainable economic growth in Iraq.

As part of the visit, Dr. Al-Hassan toured The Gallery art space and 650 Gym & Dine, both located in Baghdad. These vibrant spaces, under Kaizen Hospitality—a subsidiary of Al Handal International Group—are shining examples of the HIG’s commitment to cultural enrichment and community development. The tour showcased how Kaizen Hospitality integrates art, culture, and innovation to create meaningful experiences that resonate locally and internationally.

Dr. Al-Hassan expressed admiration for the intellectual and developmental progress achieved under Mr. Wadee Al Handal’s leadership, describing these projects as a testament to Iraq's resilience and creativity. He encouraged UNAMI staff in Iraq to engage with these initiatives, emphasizing their value in promoting cultural dialogue and gaining international recognition.

Mr. Wadee Al Handal highlighted the IPBL’s ongoing efforts to enhance Iraq’s financial infrastructure through developmental programs like the "Tamkeen" initiative. Funded by private banks, this initiative has significantly supported youth and entrepreneurial projects, contributing to a thriving economic landscape.

These efforts, supported by the Prime Minister, the Central Bank of Iraq, and the Baghdad Municipality, align with the shared vision of the IPBL, HIG, and international organizations to foster sustainable development and elevate Iraq’s economic and cultural standing globally.
