Wadee Al Handal, Chairman of Al Handal International Group and President of the Iraqi Private Banks League, participated in the seminar titled "the role of statistics in formulating monetary policy" organized by the Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL) in collaboration with the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI). The seminar, sponsored by Bank of Beirut and the Arab Countries (BBAC), International Development Bank, National Bank of Iraq, and Hammurabi Commercial Bank, aimed to highlight the critical role of data in formulating effective monetary policies.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Dr. Ammar Hamad Khalaf, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, alongside representatives from various banks, university professors, and economists. Dr. Samir Fakhri, Director General of the Statistics and Research Department at the Central Bank, presented an in-depth analysis, showcasing significant growth in monetary and banking indicators driven by the Central Bank’s policies.
A panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Salah Al Imam, featured insights from Dr. Samir Fakhri and Samir Al Nasiri, Advisor to the Iraqi Private Banks League. The discussion focused on the importance of leveraging banking and economic data to craft practical economic and financial policies that underpin national economic stability.
