The Iraqi Private Banks League held its annual Ramadan evening on March 20th at the historic Al-Qushla building near Mutanabbi Street. Notable attendees included Mr. Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Abdul-Muttalib-Ali-Al-Alawi, the Governor of Baghdad, Mr. Ammar Musa Kadhim, Baghdad's Mayor, along with representatives from banks and electronic payment companies.
Mr. Wadee Al-Handal, President of the Iraqi Private Banks League and Chairman of Al Handal International Group, commenced the event with a welcoming speech. He highlighted the significance of the evening in fostering communication between banks and electronic payment companies and congratulated everyone on the commencement of the blessed month of Ramadan.
Mr. Wadee Al-Handal also emphasized the positive impact of community initiatives within the banking sector, particularly through the Tamkeen Fund. He cited the success of projects like the Baghdad Downtown, which revitalised Mutanabbi Street and the Al-Saray, generating numerous job opportunities.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq expressed gratitude towards the Iraqi Private Banks League for organizing the event and commended the banks for their support towards the Iraqi economy. He underlined the importance of developing banking services in achieving economic growth and fulfilling the sector's primary objectives.
Towards the conclusion of the evening, the Iraqi Private Banks League recognized pioneers in the banking sector for their significant contributions to its development. Additionally, homage was paid to those who had passed away, acknowledging their dedication to the field of banking.
