Under the support of The Central Bank of Iraq and The Iraqi Private Banks League, a conference on Banking Sector Development was organized in Erbil on December 4th, with the participation of a number of banks, fintech companies, and the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Mr. Wadeea Al-Handal, Chairman of Al Handal International Group and President of The Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL), said during his speech "the IPBL is working with the government to implement the decisions of the Council of Ministers regarding the development of banks in #Iraq, diagnosing weaknesses in the banking sector and identifying ways to address them, in addition, to highlighting that financial and administrative corruption is among the most important challenge facing all sectors in Iraq.

Al-Handal explained, "The Iraqi Private Banks League is working with the Central Bank of Iraq to finance and develop small and medium enterprises in various sectors."

On the other hand, the Regional Director of the Iraqi Private Bank League, Mr. Mohammad Munther, participated in a dialogue session on the banking sector and the challenges facing it. Mr. Munther focused on the importance of the development initiatives launched by the Central Bank, amounting to 18 trillion Iraqi Dinars, in increasing the non-oil economy.
