Omar Al Handal attends “The UAE Global Family Wealth and Investment Forum” by DC Finance
On 24-25th January, DC Finance, one of the world’s most prominent family office communities held its first UAE family wealth and global investment forum at AbuDhabi Saadiyat Rotana & Villas.
A special mission of high networth family members, major familybusiness owners, and entrepreneurs from the US, Canada, EU, LATAM, and the MiddleEast visited the UAE and GCC family business community at this historic event.
We believe this forum, as was done by DC Finance in other global destinations, will become an important meeting place for family offices and high-net-worth family members from across the region and the world, who will enjoy discussions around cutting-edge technology, the nextgeneation of the family business, and other related topics.
In conversation with Omar Al Handal, Managing Director, Al Handal International Group on “Creating a Culture of Continuity” Moderated by Aneel Khan (Founder, 1821; Orbital Director, The Salon - Optima Orbits):
Omar Al Handal (grandson of the founder of Al Handal International Group (HIG) shared 3 generation’s worth of insight and experience on the importance of family governance and the necessity for structural evolutions, the role of a meritocracy-based culture, and how adversity can be a catalyst for positive change.
It is with great pride that we reflect on the legacy of the Late Haji Noori founder of Al Handal International Group. From humble beginnings, his hard work and dedication have led to the growth of a successful family business across multiple industries and sectors.
Growing up within the family business, Omar was exposed to the values and WorkEthic that have become the cornerstone of his success.
Omar continued observations of the family business enabled him to take on roles in the company, and he has faced many challenges along the way. The shockwaves of the COVID pandemic presented a tough challenge. Still, Omar responded with the entrepreneurial mindset passed down through generations, investing in DigitalTransformation and diversifying their investments.
The family business is now structured around the roles and duties of family members and shareholders, with clear governance and different vehicles such as a family office. Omar has also pursued independent interests, co-founding The Station Foundation for Entrepreneurship and embracing philanthropy and social impact investment.
Looking ahead to the fourth generation, Omar wants to ensure that the legacy of the Late Haji Noori story is one of ambition and resilience. He hopes to inspire future generations of Al Handals to build on their established foundations and continue striving for success.
