IQRAA Downtown officially opens, marking a major step in revitalizing Baghdad’s historic center
We proudly mark the opening of IQRAA Downtown, a significant step toward revitalizing Baghdad’s historic core and bringing renewed life to one of the city’s most culturally important areas.
Located on Al-Sarai Street, near Al-Mutanabbi Street and Al-Qishla, the project sits at the heart of old Baghdad, long known as a center of literature, culture, and public life.
The inauguration on 21 February was attended by Mr. Wadee Al-Handal, Chairman of Al Handal International Group; Adnan Shakir, Executive Manager at Kaizen hospitality (part of HIG); Baghdad’s Mayor; the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq; the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Cultural Affairs; and several other officials. The event underscores a growing commitment to restoring Baghdad’s historic landmarks and strengthening their role in the life of the city.
After several months of dedicated restoration, the building has been transformed from a neglected structure into a renewed architectural destination, preserving the spirit and history of the original design.
More than just a new space, IQRAA Downtown represents a step toward reconnecting the city with its heritage, creating a place where culture, community, and opportunity come together once again.
